TrueRx Formulary Change Starts July 1
Effective July 1, 2026, True Rx is making the following changes to their Exclusive Formulary. Your co-pays, co-insurance, and medication coverage may vary depending on your specific health care plan. When applicable, the name of a preferred alternative medication (in italics) will follow that of a non-covered medication name.
Formulary Tier Changes
A tiered formulary refers to different co-pay or co-insurance levels. Generally, the lower the tier, the lower the cost of the medicine. The following medications are changing from tier 1 to tier 2 and may affect your co-pay or co-insurance amount.
- Vascepa (Icosapent Ethyl)
- Uceris 9 mg ER (Budesonide 9 mg ER)
Excluded from Formulary
The medications listed below will no longer be covered by the ACSCOG healthplan starting July 1. You will need to use other preferred medications or request an exception for these non-covered medications. If an exception is needed, your doctor’s office will need to complete a Prior Authorization Request Form. Click HERE to download the form from the ACSCOG Benefits website. Instructions are included on the form.
- Epsolay Cream (Azelaic Acid Gel, Metronidazole Gel, or OTC Benzoyl Peroxide)
- Spiriva Handihaler (Tiotropium Bromide Handihaler)
- Twyneo (Separate Tretinoin and Benzoyl Peroxide Products)
What is a Formulary?
A formulary is the list of prescription medications covered by your pharmacy benefit plan. It is developed by clinical experts to include medications that are safe, effective, and affordable. Medications are grouped into tiers, which determine your cost—lower-tier drugs (like generics) typically cost less, while higher-tier drugs may cost more. Some medications may also require approval or have limits before they’re covered.
More information about your TrueRx pharmacy benefits can be found at the ACSCOG benefits website.
