What Anthem Members Need to Know About Cleveland Clinic
You may have heard about ongoing contract renewal discussions between Anthem and Cleveland Clinic. While these conversations continue, there is no immediate change to your coverage or access to care.
Anthem’s current contract with Cleveland Clinic remains in effect through December 31, 2026, and the two organizations are working toward an agreement to keep Cleveland Clinic in Anthem’s network beyond that date.
What Does This Mean for You?
Right now, nothing changes.
If you currently receive care through Cleveland Clinic, you should continue using your doctors, hospitals, and facilities just as you do today.
- Cleveland Clinic remains in-network.
- Your benefits and coverage remain the same.
- Continue with your current appointments and care.
- You do not need to take any action at this time.
Anthem members with Medicaid, MyCare, and Medicare Supplement plans are not impacted by these contract discussions.
Why Are Anthem and Cleveland Clinic Negotiating?
Health plans and healthcare systems periodically negotiate contracts that determine provider participation and the prices paid for healthcare services. These discussions are a normal part of maintaining a healthcare provider network.
Anthem and Cleveland Clinic began discussions months in advance of the December 31 contract expiration to provide time to work toward a new agreement.
For Anthem, the goal is to balance two important priorities: maintaining access to high-quality healthcare while helping manage rising healthcare costs for members, families, employers, and communities throughout Northeast Ohio.
What Happens Next?
Discussions are ongoing. Anthem’s goal is to reach an agreement that:
- Preserves access to Cleveland Clinic doctors, hospitals, and facilities.
- Maintains high-quality care for members.
- Helps limit healthcare price increases.
- Minimizes disruption for members and providers.
- Protects members and employers from unnecessary costs.
The Most Important Thing to Remember
Continue using your benefits as you normally would. If you currently see a Cleveland Clinic provider or have an upcoming appointment, there is no need to change or cancel your care because of these negotiations.
As discussions continue, watch for additional information and updates.
